Gaza, Palestine – Three Palestinian civilians were killed and several others injured on Sunday in two separate Israeli drone strikes targeting northern and southern Gaza, as the Gaza Ministry of Health reported that the overall death toll since the beginning of the war has surpassed 73,000.
According to Palestinian medical and field sources, an Israeli drone targeted a group of civilians in the Al-Salatin area of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, killing two Palestinians and critically injuring a third.
In a separate strike, an Israeli drone targeted a group of displaced civilians in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis, where thousands of displaced families are living in makeshift tents. The attack killed one Palestinian civilian and injured three others, according to medical sources.
Emergency medical teams transferred the casualties to the Kuwaiti Field Hospital west of Khan Younis, while Palestinian Red Crescent crews recovered the two victims in Beit Lahia and transported them to hospitals in northern Gaza.
Local sources identified the two victims killed in Beit Lahia as Wael Labad and Moath Ahmad, both residents of northern Gaza.
Continued Violations of the Ceasefire
The latest strikes come despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian data indicate that Israeli airstrikes and military operations have continued almost daily, including attacks on residential neighborhoods and areas sheltering displaced civilians.
According to the available information, the victims in both incidents were civilians, while international organizations continue to warn about the mounting civilian death toll and the worsening humanitarian crisis across the enclave.
Rising Casualty Figures
In its daily statistical report, the Gaza Ministry of Health said that three Palestinians were killed and 43 others injured over the previous 24 hours as a result of ongoing Israeli military operations.
The ministry added that ambulance and civil defense teams remain unable to reach a number of victims trapped beneath rubble or lying in inaccessible areas due to continuing attacks and deteriorating security conditions.
According to the ministry, the death toll since the October 10, 2025 ceasefire has risen to 1,041, with 3,372 injuries, while 786 bodies have been recovered during the same period.
Since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, the ministry says the cumulative toll has reached 73,054 killed and 173,480 injured.
Women and Children Among the Hardest Hit
United Nations data indicate that women and children account for a significant proportion of casualties in Gaza. UN humanitarian agencies say continued military operations have deepened the humanitarian crisis, forcing repeated displacement, destroying civilian infrastructure, and further reducing the capacity of hospitals to provide essential medical care.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Gaza's healthcare system continues to operate under unprecedented pressure because of severe shortages of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned of deteriorating living conditions in shelters and displacement camps, while the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says continued military operations and restrictions on humanitarian access are worsening civilian suffering and hindering relief efforts.
International Calls for Accountability
In January 2024, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) found that allegations that acts falling under the Genocide Convention may be occurring in Gaza were sufficiently plausible to warrant provisional measures. The Court ordered Israel to take steps to prevent acts prohibited under the Convention while the case remains under consideration. No final judgment has yet been issued.
Separately, organizations including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory have described events in Gaza as amounting to genocide or involving acts consistent with genocide, allegations that Israel rejects.
The United Nations and international human rights organizations continue to call for the protection of civilians, unrestricted humanitarian access, independent investigations into attacks causing civilian casualties, and accountability for violations of international humanitarian law.
